Stage 1 - Desired Results
Establish Goals:
Students will create a motivational poster about cooperation and competition using Motivator
California Fifth Grade Literary Analysis Standard
Narrative Analysis of Grade-Level-Appropriate Text
3.2 Identify the main problem or conflict of the plot and explain how it is resolved.
3.3 Contrast the actions, motives (e.g., loyalty, selfishness, conscientiousness), and appearances
of characters in a work of fiction and discuss the importance of the contrasts to the
plot or theme.

• What misunderstandings are predictable? Cooperation is always good, competition is always bad, and they don't go together

- Having student pick out examples from Flickr to share

Stage 2 – Assessment Evidence
Performance Tasks:
Through what authentic performance tasks will students demonstrate the desired understandings?
Students will produce a motivational poster on Motivator using Flickr photos and their own words to show knowledge of of the concepts of cooperation and competition.
•By what criteria will performances of understanding be judged?
A rubric to grade their work will be devised

Through what other evidence (e.g. quizzes, tests, academic prompts, observations, homework, journals) will students demonstrate achievement of the desired results?
How will students reflect upon and self-assess their learning?
Students will reflect on their learning through blog comments on the topic.

Activity write a short tag line as a blog post about this topic
